About Ephesians
The Epistle to the Ephesians was written by Paul, and he wrote it as a prisoner. Chapter 6, verse 20: “For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” An ambassador speaks for the king who sent him. Paul was still doing that job.
A man in prison wrote this letter, and it’s full of riches. Whatever has you hemmed in right now doesn’t decide how rich you are in Christ.
Listen for two small words, in Christ. They show up ten times in this letter. Everything God gives, He gives in Christ.
Here’s where a lot of people misread this book. Chapter 2, verse 8: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” Many stop there. The very next verse says we are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works. Good works don’t save you. They’re what a saved person was made for. So what does Paul say they already have, before he asks them to do anything?
